Week 42: Château Pape Clément Grand Cru Classé AOC 2008
The 2008 Pape Clément (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot) is dark red in colour.
Now completely reticent, but with an enormous amount of potential.
In the nose intense with blueberry and plum.
On the palate dense and concentrated with plum, chocolate, meat and red fruits.
Medium to full bodied, astringent tannins and a terrific structure.
Seven days drinkable after the bottle had been opened. Drink: 2020-2037.

Week 41: Prinz Salm Grünschiefer QbA 2011
The maize coloured 2011 Grünschiefer unfurls in the glass with gorgeous honey, banana and mineral aromas.
The palate possesses powerful flavours with lime, honey, melon and grapefruit from beginning to end.
The crisp and perfect integrated acidity accomplishes this experience.
Normally, one would pay $60, but this beauty is available for $16. Definitely a rare buy! Drink: 2012-2023.

This blend (55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot) is garnet red in colour.
In the nose violets, pepper, plum, cherry, roasted meat and toast aromas.
On the palate sour cherry, meat, plum and a hint of chocolate in the aftertaste.
Medium bodied and well-structured. Drink: 2012-2021.

Week 39: Pian Dell’Orino Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2006
This Sangiovese is one of the highlights this year.
Cherry red coloured with brown and orange nuances.
An intense bouquet with pork meat, turkey meat and pepper.
On the palate extremely dense with grilled pork meat, pepper, cherry and orange, undergirded by well-integrated tannins.
Full bodied, well-balanced and a long aftertaste. Good buy! Drink: 2012-2022.
