Montes Kaiken Malbec 2010:

This blend (90% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) is deep dark red in colour.

An intense and complex nose. Flavours of blackberry, raspberry, plum and chocolate.

On the palate dense with coffee, mocha and dark fruits. Cherry after a certain time.

Medium to full bodied, good tannins, well-balanced and a good finish.

Excellent value for money. Best buy! Drinkable for three days after the bottle has been opened. Drink: 2013-2022.

Week 52: Weinhaus Schuh Goldriesling Meißner Klausenberg Steillagenwein QbA 2012

This Goldriesling is bright straw yellow in colour with green reflexes.

A fresh and intense bouquet with apple, pear and fermentation aromas.

On the palate dense with early season dessert apple, nutmeg, and fermentation aromas.

Full bodied, racial acidity and a long finish. Best buy!

Ten days drinkable after the bottle had been opened. Drink: 2012-2016.

Week 51: Château Beaumont Cru Bourgeois Supérieur AOC 2009

The 2009 Château Beaumont (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec) is dark red in colour.

An elegant bouquet with vanilla, plum, chocolate and toast.

On the palate very soft, expressive and mouth filling with vanilla, strawberry jam, coffee and nice toast.

Medium to full bodied, well-integrated tannins and a long finish. Good buy!

Two days drinkable after the bottle had been opened. Drink: 2012-2021.

Week 50: Weingut Bercher Burkheim Berchers Chardonnay Spätlese Prädikatswein trocken (Barrique) 2011

This Chardonnay matured nine months in barriques. Golden yellow in colour.

In the nose apple, grapefruit and orange blossom. On the palate apple, pear, floral and fermentation aromas.

Full bodied, fine acidity and an ordinary finish. Ten days drinkable after the bottle had been opened. Good buy! Drink: 2012-2018.

Week 49: Weingut Bercher Burkheim Burkheimer Feuerberg Weisser Burgunder Kabinett trocken Prädikatswein 2011

 

This Weißburgunder is straw yellow in colour.

In the nose honey, elder and quince. On the palate lemon grass and apple.

Full bodied, well-integrated acidity and an ordinary finish. Best buy!

Two weeks drinkable after the bottle had been opened. Drink: 2012-2016.
